RAH Adopts Anvil Foundry as Preferred Brewpot

RAH members have many different ways of brewing things, proving that there is no single approach in making great homebrew. My own journey has included 20 years as a five gallon extract and partial grain stovetop brewer, a brief stint as a one gallon all-grain stovetop brewer, a couple of years brewing on a 5L PicoC all-in-one brewing system, and my current Anvil Foundry 6.5 all-in-one electric brew system - producing three gallon all-grain batches and five gallon extract and partial grain batches.

There are many factors that go into deciding what kind of brewing system is right for you. I like variety. When I go out to a pub I rarely order the same beer twice - and really prefer taster flights if the brewery has several interesting beeres I would like to try. After I finish a pint my server invariably asks if I want another of the same. I only say yes if they don't have anything else on tap that interests me.

So brewing five gallons is way too much of the same thing for me. It can last in the keg for months before it gets emptied. The smaller volume batches of one gallon and 5L allowed for a lot of variety but didn't last long. Three gallons is the perfect amount for me.
